Pregnancy & Post Partum Pain

Pelvic girdle and lower back pain are a common infliction throughout the pregnancy journey. With added weight and increased ligament laxity, the requirements of the muscular system are placed under added load and stress. Targeted exercise through this period helps to prevent or minimise the pain and has been shown to reduce pain and the duration of the delivery. Some hands on treatment may also help to minimise discomfort.

Following the pregnancy into the post partum period, with extra lifting/ pushing/ carrying related with the care of little ones (not to mention combined with sleep deprivation), there are common pain disorders of the neck, shoulder girdle, wrists and often hips that frequently occur. Whilst it is a period in which many women and men find self care difficult, addressing these various aches and pains in a timely manner can improve the family unit’s ease of function.

These are not the only conditions to afflict individuals during this period, at Body Technics we are able to address your body’s aches and pains.

Whilst we do not specifically treat pelvic floor related problems, the strengthening and retraining of the core muscles might help to improve or reduce some symptoms. However, we are able refer to the appropriate clinicians when required.
